Cherry blossoms are blooming

For about one week in April, with weather permitting, one is usually treated to a period of pure spring bliss.

Otemae University’s Shukugawa campus is next to the Shuku River and park, which is famous for its cherry blossom trees. Here are some photos taken on March 27, with most trees pretty much in full bloom. They’re taken along my walk from the Hankyu Shukugawa station to the campus.

Japanese media has reported that the flowers started and reached peak bloom a bit earlier on average, due to warmer temperatures.

Anecdotally, it certainly seems like winter was warmer and shorter!
